IND vs SL 1st ODI Highlights: India (IND) faced Sri Lanka (SL) in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series and the match was a tie, despite the Men in Blue being ahead of Sri Lanka for most of the game on August 2 (Friday) at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, this followed after the 3rd India vs Sri Lanka on July 30 that also resulted in a tie. But India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, won that game in the Super Over.
Sri Lanka struggled early in their innings after choosing to bat, with Mohammed Siraj dismissing Avishka Fernando and Shivam Dube removing Kusal Mendis. Despite a brief partnership between Mendis and Pathum Nissanka, Sri Lanka faltered at 101/5 due to excellent spin bowling from Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar. Dunith Wellalage anchored the innings, scoring 67* and forming key partnerships with Janith Liyanage, Wanindu Hasaranga and Akila Dananjaya. His effort helped Sri Lanka reach a competitive total of 230/8 in 50 overs.

India Reduced To 132-5 Despite Rohit Sharma's Blistering Start
India began strongly with captain Rohit Sharma making a blistering 58 off 47 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. While Rohit attacked the Sri Lankan bowlers, Shubman Gill struggled and was dismissed for 16 off 35 balls by Dunith Wellalage. Rohit also fell to Wellalage, who trapped him lbw.
Axar Patel and KL Rahul played a vital role in stabilising the innings with a 57-run partnership for the sixth wicket after India were reduced to 132/5. Washington Sundar’s early dismissal and the back-to-back loss of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer had left India in a precarious position. However, the stand between KL Rahul (31 off 43) and Axar Patel (33 off 57) provided hope before both were dismissed in quick succession.
Charith Asalanka's Back-To-Back Strikes Force A Tie
Shivam Dube (25 off 24) fought valiantly, leaving India needing just one run off 14 balls. In a dramatic finish, Charith Asalanka (3/30) dismissed both Dube and Arshdeep Singh on consecutive deliveries, resulting in a tie.
India will face Sri Lanka in the 2nd IND vs SL ODI match on August 4 (Sunday) at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
