Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh recently opined on the comparisons between the two all-time great openers and said Rohit has a better technique than Sehwag.
"I don't want to compare Rohit with anyone. But yes, Virender Sehwag had the biggest impact on the opposition. If you didn't get Sehwag out, you would find him batting on 250 or 270 by the end of day's play," Harbhajan was quoted as saying in an interview.
"Rohit is no less and is more than capable of scoring big in a similar fashion. Rohit has a better technique (than Sehwag) and he could be even more dangerous. With Sehwag, you knew he will go after you once he was set but with Rohit, he will play those shots that you would think he is not looking to play but will still hit you far enough," he added.
During the opening Test against South Africa, senior spinner R Ashwin became the fastest Indian bowler to complete 350 wickets in Test cricket- a record which was previously held by Anil Kumble (77 Tests).
Harbhajan insisted that R Ashwin could well go past both his senior spin pros- Kumble and Harbhajan himself, to become the highest wicket-taker for India in Test cricket.
"I am not sure about 600 wickets, but 417 is very close. The way he is going, he can definitely achieve that 400-wicket mark and can get to 500 wickets. 600 Test wickets is very far but if he has to achieve that, he has to keep himself very fit and prolong his career. I think if he is fit, he can achieve anything," said Bhajji, who has over 700 international wickets to his name.
