Pakistan Qualification Scenario T20 World Cup 2024: Pakistan (PAK) have lost both their T20 World Cup 2024 matches so far and it does not do them any good for their hopes of qualifying into the Super 8 stage. After facing a shocking defeat to co-hosts USA in their first T20 World Cup match, Pakistan lost yet another match to their arch-rivals India in what turned out to be another shocking loss. Pakistan had their noses ahead for the most of the time in the IND vs PAK match on Sunday, but eventually lost the game by six runs, thanks to a brilliant bowling by India pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

Pakistan have 0 points after 2 matches, and their chances of qualifying to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 look slim. The Babar Azam-led team must win their remaining matches against Canada and Ireland. Next, they need either India or USA to lose their next two matches. They also hope that the India vs USA match on June 12 isn't washed out, as a washout would result in both teams getting a point and qualifying. Lastly, they need Canada to lose to India or, if Canada win, to have a worse Net Run Rate (NRR) than Pakistan.

Even if Pakistan win both matches and USA lose their remaining games, qualification for the Super 8 stage will hinge on Net Run Rate (NRR). Both teams would have 4 points from 4 matches, meaning Pakistan would need several favourable results.

Pakistan Lose Yet Another IND vs PAK T20 World Cup Match

Pakistan's bowlers put up a stellar performance, bowling out India for just 119. Rishabh Pant's cameo of 42 was the standout, as the rest of the batting lineup struggled. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah took three wickets each, while Mohammad Amir claimed two.

Chasing a target of 119, Pakistan lost Babar Azam early, but Mohammad Rizwan's 31 runs kept the innings going. Pakistan appeared to be cruising to a win at 72-2, but a shocking collapse saw them lose the game. They managed only 40 runs for the loss of six wickets in the last 46 balls.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the hero, delivering a magnificent spell of 4-13 in four overs, earning the man of the match award. Hardik Pandya also contributed, picking up two wickets for 24 runs. With the loss, Pakistan's record against India at the T20 World Cup stands at 7-1, with them winning just one match in the history of the ICC event.
