Ahead of the all-important semi-final clash between India and New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the city police have received a threat message on X saying that a nefarious incident would take place at the venue during the match.


Mumbai Police said, "An unidentified person posted a threat message to Mumbai Police on X (formerly Twitter) that a nefarious incident would be executed during the India vs New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium today. Strict vigilance is being done in the area around the stadium and nearby areas. The person had tagged Mumbai Police on his post and shown gun, hand grenades and bullets in a photo."






A 17-year-old youth was detained from Latur district by the Mumbai Crime Branch, the Mumbai Police said. "Why did he post the threat message is yet to be ascertained," it added.






Talking about the match, India and New Zealand are set to lock horns in the CC Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinal 1 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India, the Cricket World Cup 2023 table-toppers, ended the league stage with a flawless 9-0 record. The Men in Blue, successfully led by Rohit Sharma, dominated their opponents in every match.


On the other hand, New Zealand experienced a rollercoaster journey in the tournament. The Kiwis were off to a convincing start but later went on to lose four consecutive games, but they managed to reach the semi-final stage after beating Sri Lanka in the last game of the league stage.
