IND vs ENG Test Series: Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has issued a cautionary message to the visiting England cricket team as they gear up for their upcoming assignment -- India vs England five-match Test series, commencing in Hyderabad from January 25 onwards. Despite England adopting a new 'Bazball style of play' in their ultimate quest to beat Rohit Sharma-led India on their home turf, Siraj has warned that the Test matches might conclude within two days if England persists with their aggressive brand of cricket.
What is Bazball?
The term "Bazball" was informally coined during the 2022 English cricket season, characterizing the aggressive and attacking style of play adopted by the England cricket team in Test matches.
"If England play Bazball in Indian conditions, the match may get over within a day-and-a-half or two. It’s not easy to hit every time here as the ball turns sometimes and straightens on other occasions. So, I think it’ll be difficult to see Bazball here. But if they play it, it’ll be good for us as the match may get over quickly," Siraj said on JioCinema.
"On their previous tour to India, the matches were getting over quickly. In that series (in 2021) I think I played two matches. In the first innings of one of these, I bowled five overs and took two wickets of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. So, the aim will be to control runs in how many ever overs I bowl. If I get wickets fine, but I’ll have to stay patient and continue building pressure on the batsmen," he said.
IND vs ENG 1st Test will take place at Mohammed Siraj's home ground, Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The pacer is eagerly anticipating the support of the fans as they turn up to cheer him on during the match.
"I am waiting for all our fans in Hyderabad to turn up for IND vs ENG 1st Test. We love them a lot and look forward to their support."
