IND vs ENG 1st ODI: England won the toss and opted to bat first in the 1st IND vs ENG ODI of the three-match series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur on February 6 (Thursday). After registering a 4-1 series win over England in the five-match T20I series, India would be looking to replicate their success int he ODIs as well. The ODI series serves as ideal preparation for both India and England for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

In what came as a major setback for Team India was the absence of Virat Kohli from the playing 11 as he missed the Nagpur ODI due to having developed a knee issue. Indian captain Rohit Sharma confirmed Virat Kohli's absence at the toss. Another notable absentee from the Indian playing 11 was the star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant.

While the star batters missed the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana were presented their respective India caps as they made their ODI debuts for the country.
