Senior India opener Rohit Sharma is currently leading the Indian cricket team against Australia in the final of IND vs AUS World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 at the Kennington Oval in London. The match is of high relevance for both the teams who are eyeing a maiden WTC win. For the first time in 20 years, India are locking horns with Australia in the summit clash of an ICC event. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma's five-year-old tweet has gone viral on the internet. Many years back in 2018, selectors of senior men's team did not pick Rohit Sharma in Indian test team for India vs England five-match Test series. Five years later, Rohit is captaining the Indian team across formats, including the Test team.

Back in 2018, Rohit Sharma was ignored for IND vs ENG Tests as the selectors went ahead with Hanuma Vihari and Karun Nair. Nair didn't get a single game while Vihari made his debut for Indian Test team in the final Test of IND vs ENG series. Rohit made a resounding comeback into the Test team in 2019 and never looked back since then. His back-to-back consistent performances in the longest format made him India's Test team vice-captain in 2022 and later in March month of the same year, he replaced Virat Kohli as the captain in red-ball format.

After being ignored by the selectors for Ind vs Eng Test series in 2018, Rohit had posted a motivational tweet.

"Sun has risen," a social media user reacted to Rohit Sharma's five-year-old tweet.
