Australia's front-line batsman Steve Smith achieved a major milestone in his ODI career after he scaled the  4000 ODI run mark in international cricket during the series decider against hosts India at Bengaluru. The Australian batting mainstay became the joint fourth fastest Australian to achieve the landmark.


The record for the fastest Australian to get to 4000 ODI runs is in the name of hard hitting Aussies opener David Warner. Former Australian batting greats Dean Jones and current skipper Aaron Finch occupy the second and third place in the list.


Coming to bat at No.3 Smith also brought up his ninth ODI ton and the third against India. The Australian batting mainstay has a brilliant record against India,notching up at an outstanding average of over 60.

Smith  has scored 3 tons and 6 half centuries against India. Smith top scored for the visitors with a breezy 98 in the second ODI at Rajkot which Australia lost by 36 runs.

India is currently locking horns with Australia in the series decider at Bengaluru after the 3-match series is levelled 1-1.
