Young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been touching new skies since his entry into the Indian Test team. The 21-year-old scripted history during the first Test at the Adelaide Oval as he became the first Indian wicket-keeper to take six catches in a Test innings against Australia.
He incidentally equalled MS Dhoni’s tally of six catches which he took in 2009 against New Zealand at Wellington, during the third Test match. Pant was responsible for the dismissal of Mitchell Starc, Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood on Saturday while earlier; he took the catches of Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb and Australia captain Tim Paine.

The record of taking most catches in an innings against Australia remains with West Indies’ Ridley Jacobs who grabbed seven catches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2000.
The Test career of this Indian youngster began on a high as he achieved the record of most number of catches by an Indian wicketkeeper on Test debut with seven scalps. Pant achieved this feat during the third Test against England at Trent Bridge.
