Following his consistent batting performance in the last 5 Test matches for India, young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant made his ODI debut against West Indies on Sunday. He received the maiden ODI cap from former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

With Dhoni struggling to score in the limited-overs format for quite a long time now, Pant was included in the side to fix India middle-order woes. Though he didn’t get chance to bat on his debut, he was happy to become the 244th cricketer to represent India in One-Day Internationals.

He took to his official social media account to share the picture where he could be seen receiving the cap from his idol, MS Dhoni.

The 21-year-old batsman has been impressive with the bat in the red-ball cricket so far. In the recently concluded 2-match Test series against West Indies, he scored 184 runs in 2 innings at an average of 92. The 21-year-old also maintained a good strike rate of 84, which was the second highest in the series, only after Prithvi Shaw.
