During the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 final between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans at the National Stadium in Karachi on March 18 (Monday), a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) captured Islamabad United's star all-rounder Imad Wasim smoking in the dressing room after completing his spell.

The incident occurred in the 18th over following Imad's impressive bowling performance, where he claimed five wickets for 23 runs. After delivering an impressive four-over spell, Wasim made his way back to the dressing room when broadcast visuals captured him smoking what looked like a cigarette.

Islamabad United Clinch Nail-Biting Victory In PSL 2024 Final

In a thrilling encounter in the PSL 2024 final, Islamabad United secured a tense two-wicket victory over Multan Sultans. Hunain Shah struck a boundary off the final ball, clinching the win for Islamabad United and their third PSL trophy.

Multan Sultans chose to bat first, posting 159/9 in 20 overs with Usman Khan's 57, Iftikhar Ahmed's unbeaten 32, and Mohammad Rizwan's 26 leading the charge. Imad Wasim was exceptional, claiming five wickets for just 23 runs in his spell.

In response, Martin Guptill's brisk 50 off 32 balls and Azam Khan's 30 off 22 balls kept Islamabad United in contention. Despite consistent wicket-taking by Multan Sultans, Imad Wasim's unbeaten 19 guided Islamabad United to victory with two wickets remaining.

"Felt that the more time I had, could utilise it better with bat. At number 6-7, I don't have the power game. Have tried to fix my technical issues as a bowler. That's a long process, and the improvements will come. Watching the match is tough for me. In the middle I don't feel pressure, but watching it from outside is tough. I make life difficult for people next to me as well, so I don't sit with batters who are supposed to walk in next. Special mention to the owners who have backed me. I was captain for five years and we didn't reach final, but they backed me. Lot of things I feel that make this trophy very important for us," said skipper Shadab Khan following Islamabad's win.
