If there is one thing that has gone in favour of bowlers in the six or nothing era of cricket, that is the standard of fielding. Number of gravity-defining catches and acrobatic run outs have maintained a decent enough pace with the switch hits and helicopters. Some are so outrageous that it surpasses an otherwise crucial batting or bowling effort.

One of those outrageous runouts took place in the Women’s World T20 Qualifier between Uganda and Thailand. The fielder, however, had done nothing out of the ordinary. Yet, the dismissal of Thailand’s No.3 Boochatham, earned the most bizarre run out tag from ICC.

Here’s why

The fielder, standing at mid-on, tried her best to catch the striker Chintam short of her crease after she attempted to pinch a cheeky single. Boochatham, approaching the striker’s end at her own easy pace, had very little idea that the throw intended to break the stumps at the non-striker’s end would end up sending her back to the pavilion by somehow finding the way towards the stumps at her end.

Uganda Women registered their first victory in an ICC event by beating Thailand by four wickets. Thailand had put up 67 for 9 in their 20 overs and Uganda chased that down with 9 balls to spare.
