Hitting the top of Alastair Cook’s off stump after beating him with pace and swing is indeed a matter of pride for any young fast bowler and India’s Mohammed Siraj is no different. The Hyderabad seamer was so excited about getting the better of England’s former captain that he posted the clip on his Instagram account almost a fortnight after the incident during the England Lions vs India A match in Worcester.
The reason for Siraj’s celebration is not only Cook’s stature as a Test batsman. It was also because Cook was coming off a flawless 180 in the first innings of the four-day game.
Siraj had managed to get the ball jag back in from a length, leaving Cook a bit surprised. The left-hander was clearly late to react as his bat came down after the ball had already crashed onto his off stump. He was out for 5 in the second innings.
England Lions had won the match comfortably with a huge margin of 253 runs. For India, Siraj was the only bright spot, who picked up 7 wickets in the match.
The right-arm medium pacer had a fairly good outing in the with A tour, picking up wickets in both limited overs and four-day matches.
