India former player VVS Laxman congratulated Sourav Ganguly on being unanimously elected as the Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) President and stated that he has no doubt that Indian cricket will continue to prosper under the former India skipper.

"Congrats Sourav Ganguly on becoming the President of BCCI. I have got no doubt that under your leadership Indian Cricket will continue to prosper. Wishing you lots of success in your new role Dada," Laxman tweeted.

Ganguly also responded to Laxman saying: "Thank you VVS...Your contributions will be very important."

The 47-year-old is set to be appointed unopposed to the post of BCCI President.

After filing his nomination, Ganguly on Monday said that taking care of first-class cricketers and setting the house in order would be top priority for him after assuming office.

"My biggest focus will be on first-class cricket. I have been very vocal about taking care of the first-class cricketers. Indian cricket administration has to be the best in the world. We have to get the administration in order," he said.

However, Ganguly's appointment will be a short one as he will have to go in for a cooling off period from September 2020, under the new rules. An administrator can only serve six years on the trot.
