Legendary Indian batter Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach came to a close following India's historic triumph in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Dravid's departure opened the door for Gautam Gambhir's appointment as his successor. In this context, veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his thoughts on who he considers the better coach: Rahul Dravid or Gautam Gambhir.

"I think he (Gambhir) is very relaxed. I want to call him 'relaxed rancho'. There's no pressure at all. In the morning, there will be a team huddle. He is very relaxed about that as well. He will be like, 'Are you coming, please come'; it's like that," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

"With Rahul bhai, as soon as we come, he demanded in order. Even a bottle should be kept at a particular place at a particular time. He is very regimented. With Gambhir, he doesn't expect all that. He has a relaxed order and will be a people's man. He will capture everybody’s heart, and I think he will be loved by the boys," Ashwin added.

Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach of India concluded after T20 World Cup in June 2024. Gautam Gambhir came in as his successor, taking charge during the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka in July-August.

Gautam Gambhir has made an impressive start to his tenure in Test cricket as India head coach, leading the team to a thumping win in IND vs BAN 1st Test in Chennai.

Team India currently leads two-match IND vs BAN Test series 1-0. A win in the second and final Test in Kanpur will help hosts seal series 2-0.

Gautam Gambhir faces a tough challenge ahead when India, after the Test series, takes on the same opponent in a three-match T20I series, starting from October 6 (Sunday) onwards.
