Former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns is under life support in Canberra, Australia. It is being reported by the New Zealand media outlet, Newshub that Cairns had multiple operations but did not respond to the treatment. The 51-year old Kiwi suffered a heart attack last week. He also suffered an Aortic Dissection in his heart.

This condition results in a tear in the inside part of the body's main artery. This has caused a major complication which has led to the cricketer being on life support.

Chris Cairns has played more than 200 ODIs and 60+ Test matches. He was one of the best batting all-rounders who has represented New Zealand. He was a right-handed middle-order batsman and a right-handed medium-fast bowler. Cairns had a great strike rate of close to 85. He has close to 5000 ODI runs and 200+ wickets in both Tests and one-day matches.

The Blackcaps all-rounder retired from all forms of cricket in 2006. He was caught in a fixing scandal and his career was full of controversies.

Cairns, in his later life also faced financial problems. He had to take up truck driving to make ends meet. Chris Cairns' wife Mel Croser had said in 2014, “He has no choice, he has to provide for his family … We have bills to pay like everyone else. We don’t own a house, we’re paying rent like many other people and getting by is a struggle," to New Zealand Herald.

As this news surfaced on the internet, people are sending their wishes for the former NZ all-rounder.
