While India is toiling hard to exhibit a match-winning performance in the ongoing Test series against English, head coach Ravi Shastri turned the heads by stating that ‘this side is travelling better than the teams of the last 15-20 years’.
Shastri has surely caused uproar within the Indian cricket fraternity with his statement. Various loopholes in the Indian line-up were exposed during this series. Still, the head coach termed it as better than those which included legendary players like Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and many more.
Meanwhile, former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly, has strongly condemned Shastri’s weird comparison. In conversation with Wah Cricket, he said, “Shastri saying that he hasn’t witnessed a better team in last 15-20 years does nothing but makes us laugh.”
Further, Ganguly commented on the continuous failure of the batting unit. He suggested that in order to come out with flying colours on foreign soil, they need do ‘something special’.
He said, “How many times have scored more than 250? To bounce back from here, India have to do something special in future and practice hard.”
India is fighting for pride in the last Test against England at the KIA Oval in London. Though they have lost the series, still they would like to win the final game before leaving for the upcoming Asia Cup.
