East Delhi Riders (EDR) registered their fourth consecutive win in the inaugural season of the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) on August 23 (Friday). EDR, led by Himmat Singh, defeated Hrithik Shokeen-led West Delhi Lions (WDL) by five wickets to strengthen their top position in the DPL 2024 points table. EDR have won all their four encounters of the season so far whereas WDL, with the defeat, now have two losses in three games.

WDL now find themselves on the fifth spot in the DPL 2024 points table with the net run rate (NRR) of -0.336.

Coming to the EDR vs WDL DPL 2024 match, Himmat Singhwon the toss and elected to field first, sending in WDL to bat first. Opener Ankit Kumar's 44-ball 73 runs knock helped West Delhi Lions to post the score of 182-9 in 20 overs. In the chase, East Delhi Riders faced a rocky start as they lost both their openers early on but the captain, Himmat Singh, played a crucial 47-ball 65 runs anchoring knock and along with the contributions from Samarth Seth and Mayank Rawat, EDR chased the target with one over remaining and five wickets still in hand.
