Dhruv Jurel is on the verge of making his Test debut, with strong possibility that he will step in for KS Bharat in the third India vs England Test match of the ongoing 5-match Test series between India and England in Rajkot. Ahead of the third Test, the 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman from Uttar Pradesh expressed his intention to dedicate the maiden Test cap to his father as a tribute for the unwavering support he has provided over the years.

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel expressed that his father is his hero, and whenever he makes his Test debut, he will dedicate the cap to him. Jurel, who gained recognition for impactful innings with the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023, earned a spot in the Test team for the home series against England in the absence of Ishan Kishan.

"If I get the India cap, I would like to dedicate this to my father because he is my hero. Whenever I feel confused, I will talk to him. He guides me. He is my hero," Jurel told BCCI.

Jurel's Cricket Journey Powered By His Family's Sacrifices

Dhruv Jurel's journey in cricket has been marked by his family's sacrifices and his personal dedication to the sport. His mother sold her gold chain to afford his cricket kit, and initially, his father, a Kargil war veteran, was opposed to his involvement in sports.

Over time, Jurel's father became a strong supporter, turning into a pillar of encouragement for him. Making his debut in the Ranji Trophy during the 2022 season against Vidarbha, Jurel established himself as a reliable middle-order batsman, showcasing his resilience and commitment to the sport.
