The Indian team is set to play the WTC final against Australia which will be taking place from June 7 at The Oval. Currently, players of both teams are taking part in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. Meanwhile, just ahead of the high-voltage clash, Australia’s batter Usman Khawaja posted a picture where he was spotted wearing a new kit that has been made for the WTC final.
"Not gonna lie. These vest are gangsta 🔥. World Test Championship. #straya🇦🇺🦘🪃 #loveavest #prizedpossession #wtc #gonnaneedit”, Khawaja captioned the post.
The last time when Rohit Sharma's India played against Australia was in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 which took place earlier in the year where India ended up winning the Test series by 2-1, and based on that win, team India qualified for the World Test Championship final for the second consecutive time.
Team India reached the summit clash in the 2021 edition also but then they lost the final against New Zealand, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Talking about this year’s clash, the Indian team’s preparation has been going on well. Since most of the players are taking part in the IPL 2023, they don’t have to put in extra effort to be match ready. India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is already in England, playing county cricket, and by now he has decoded the conditions.
Players like Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel of the Indian team have already left for London, including members of the support staff. Players will be traveling in batches as IPL 2023 is going on and most of the players are still playing. According to the reports, senior players like Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin will be leaving in the next batch on May 24.
