Australia's batting spearhead Steve Smith ended the 2019 Ashes Series as the highest run getter, amassing a whopping 774 runs against England over the course of the 5-match Test series. By virtue of his prodigious run scoring form, Smith equaled Indian batting great Sunil Gavaskar's record for most runs scored by batsman in 5-match Test series.
In the fifth Ashes Test against England, Smith went past his own record of scoring 769 runs against India during the 2014-15 season.
Smith notched up a humongous 774 runs in 4 Tests to help Australia win two Tests and help his team level the series. Smith scored 23 runs in the final innings of the fifth Test before holding out to Ben Stokes at leg gully off the bowling of Stuart Broad, his lowest score in the 2019 Ashes series.
The 30-year-old batsman who returned to Test cricket after serving a 12-month ban is in blazing hot formats he had scored three tons in the four-Test games he played, including one double-ton. He failed to play in the third Test due to failed concussion Test after he was hit by Jofra Archer's bouncer on his head in the second Test.
Smith recently attainted the number one batsman spot in the ICC Test rankings eclisping his fierce rival Virat Kohli.
