Australia's batting mainstay Steve Smith continued his splendid run of form in the ongoing Ashes Series against Australia as he notched up his third ton of the series on Day 2  of the 4th Test at Old Trafford Ground in Manchester.


Coming out to bat for Australia on his overnight score of 60, Smith continued to pile on the runs by staging brief partnerships with Matthew Wade and Travis Head and got to his 26th Test ton.

Australia posted 245/5 at Lunch on Day 2 of the fourth Test losing the wickets of Travis Head and Matthew Wade.

Smith became the highest centurion among active cricketer in the Ashes series. He is only third behind the legendary Sir Donald Bradman and Jack Hobbs in the centurion list in the Ashes.

Smith, who returned to international cricket post serving a ban has been in the form of his life, leading the run scoring charts for Australia in the Ashes notching up a staggering 459 runs with 3 tons.

Smith also overtook his arch-rival Virat Kohli in terms of centuries scored in Test cricket. While the Indian run-scoring machine has 25 Test tons, Smith has gone one better than Kohli scoring his 26th ton.
