India Vs England: Anjikya Rahane's poor performance on the Tour of England is becoming a problem for Team India. Rahane returned to the pavilion in the second innings of the Oval Test without scoring. The team management is constantly defending Rahane, but it has become extremely difficult for them to save a place for him in the team now.

Rahane has managed to cross the double figures four times in the series against England. But he has been able to turn a good start into a fifty on just one occasion. Rahane scored 61 in the second innings of the Lord's Test. Apart from that, Rahane's scorecard in this series has been 5, 1, 18, 10, 14 and 0.

Far behind Shardul

Anjikya Rahane has scored 107 runs in the series against England so far at an average of just 15.5. Shardul Thakur, who scored half-centuries in both innings of the fourth Test, is ahead of Rahane in scoring runs in just two matches in the Test series. Shardul Thakur has scored 117 runs in the series.

Looking at the batting average, Anjikya Rahane seems to be lagging behind his teammates Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Both Shami and Bumrah have a much higher batting average than Rahane in the series against England.

Has scored just one fifty in the last 15 innings

It is not that Ajinkya Rahane is not able to perform better just in the current series against England, but he has managed to score only one half-century in his last 15 innings. Rahane has scored just 285 runs during this period.

Barring a Melbourne Test century, there has been no other big score by Anjikya Rahane in nearly two years. Anjikya Rahane's average in Tests has gone below 40 at the moment. Rahane's batting average had reached close to 50 when he scored 188 against Australia in 2016. But in the last four years, Rahane has scored an average of about 33, and that is why his inclusion in the next Test is doubtful.
