Afghanistan is all set to lock horns with Ireland for a 3-match T20I and 5-match ODI series and one-off Test in India later this month. Ahead of the tournament, the Afghanis played a practice match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore XI on Tuesday and defeated them by 28 runs.

Batting first, Afghanistan XI posted a mammoth 181 runs on the board in 20 overs. Captain Ashghar Afghan top-scored with 47 runs and was well-supported by Hazratullah Zazai (43) and Samiullah Shenwari (26).

The RCB in response fell short of the target by 28 runs. They managed to muster 152 runs in 20 overs despite an astonishing 65-run knock from Himmat Singh. He didn't get solid support from the other end and eventually, the team fell short while chasing the daunting total.

Afghani Chinaman Zahir Khan was the wrecker-in-chief for Afghanistan XI. He scalped three wickets and didn’t concede many runs during his four-over spell.

These matches are part of Afghanistan’s training camp ahead of the series against Ireland. A total of 40 players have participated in the camp while the final squad will travel to Dehradun to play the Irish side. The tour commences with the T20I series starting from February 21.

The ODI series is slated to commence on February 20. The one-off Test is scheduled to start from March 15.
