West Indies off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall produced a terrific spell of spin bowling to pick up seven wickets and help Windies bundle out Afghanistan for a paltry 187 run on the opening day of the one-off Test being played at Lucknow. The big and burly West Indies off spinner returned with his career best bowling figures of 7-75 in India in 2019.
Afghanistan, for whom this venue is their adopted 'home', were bundled out for 187 after Windies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and put the home side to bat first at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Cornwall returned 7/75 as he wrecked through the batting line, casting a web around the Afghan batsmen with his guile and craft. Holder picked up two wickets and Jomel Warrican got another as West Indies bossed Day 1.
Cornwall's effort was also the best first-innings figures for any West Indies spinner since Jack Noregia took 9 for 95 against India 48 years ago.
