On Day 7, India had a dominant start with sprinter Hima Das qualifying for 200m semifinal and PV Sindhu marched into pre-quarters after defeating Maldives' Fathimath Nabaaha 21-04, 21-11 in the Round of 32 of the Women's Singles category. Meanwhile, hammer thrower Manju Bala too qualified for final.
Hima Das clocked 23.42 seconds to touch the finish line in a 200m sprint. The 22-year-old Assam sprinter led the five-woman field from the beginning. Behind Hima Das, it was Zambia's Rhoda Njobu who clocked 23.85 seconds, while Uganda's Jacent Nyamhunge with the timing of 24.07 seconds.
There are six heats in the women's 200m qualifying round and the top16 sprinters qualify for the semifinal. Meanwhile, in Heat 1 and Heat 5, athletes have clocked better than Indian sprinter in the qualifying round.
The Round of 32 match against Maldives' Fathimath Nabaaha was like a cakewalk for PV Sindhu as the Indian stalwart and two-time Olympic medallist defeated the former in a straight games match.
Hammer Thrower Manju Bala qualified for final after recording a 59.68m throw. She stood 11th in the qualifying round.

With 18 medals under its belt, India stands at seventh position in the CWG ranking behind Australia, England, Canada, New Zealand, Scotland, and South Africa. On Day 6, India put together a good fight to win five medals. Judoka Tulika Maan claimed a silver medal in the women's +78 kg category while weightlifters Lovepreet Singh and Gurdeep Singh settle for bronze in the men's 109 kg and 109+ kg categories, respectively.
By clearing 2.22 metres in the men's high jump, Tejaswin Shakar shone with a historic bronze while Saurav Ghosal bagged a maiden CWG medal in men's singles squash. Saurav made a podium finish with a bronze medal.
