New Delhi: 19-years-old Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga won the second gold medal for India in weightlifting by lifting a record weight in the men's 67kg category on the third day of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Jeremy lifted a record-breaking 140kg in the snatch category, while in clean and jerk, he lifted 160kg to lift a combined weight of 300kg to set a new Commonwealth Games record. This is India's second gold in weightlifting and overall 5th medal in CWG 2022. Before Jeremy, Sanket Sargar (Silver), Gururaj Pujari (Bronze), Mirabai Chanu (Gold), and Bindyarani Devi (Silver) have won medals for India.


Meanwhile, Jeremy, reacting to his win at CWG, said he his happy after winning the gold but not satisfied with his performance as he was expecting to perform better. 










So far in CWG 2022, India has won all its five medals in weightlifting only. Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu and Jeremy Lalrinnunga won gold for India in weightlifting, while lifters Sanket Sargar and Bindiya Rani won silver and Gururaja Pujari won bronze in their respective events. Talking about Jeremy's career, he won the 2018 Youth Olympics in the 62 kg weight category.
