It has been a dramatic turnaround of things for the sport of cricket which made a long awaited resumption amid the Covid-19 pandemic with the first Test between England and West Indies bringing an end to the 117-day long hiatus. In what comes as yet another thrilling bit of news for all cricket fans across the world, the tenth season of the Big Bash League (BBL) will also get underway from December 3 later this year. The full schedule of the high profile T20 league in Australia was officially out on Wednesday.


The Bigh Bash League (BBL) will become the second major T20 league to be held this year as it follows the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 league, which had earlier announced its fixtures for the 2020 season recently. Now all eyes are on the fate of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which still remains in the dark.

Cricket Australia (CA) announced the schedule for the 10th BBL season which will witness 61 T20 matches being played over 2 months despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

There have been doubts over the entire quarantine process and safety of players travelling from different countries to play cricket matches but keeping that uncertainty over because of COVID-19 in mind, Cricket Australia has announced a flexible and longer schedule for the Season 10 of BBL.

The 10th edition of the flagship T20 league in Australia will commence 2 weeks before the Season 9 had, giving the organisers adequate time to tinker around with the fixtures in a case some drastic measures need to be taken to curb the spread of the the Coronavirus.

A few fixtures of the BBL will also overlap with Australia's bilateral series against India 'Down Under' which implies that some of the major T20 stalwarts like Steve Smith, David Warner and Pat Cummins will not be available throughout the season to their franchises.

BBL boss Alistair Dobson spoke about the new season, its challenges and how the organisers plan to host a complete season despite the COVID-19 uncertainty around the globe.

“As the BBL approaches its tenth season, the League, our Clubs and our Partners are doing everything possible to ensure that we are set and ready to go for a great Summer of Big Bash,” Dobson said.
