New Delhi: Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of Team India and the current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, might step down from his post in coming weeks, ANI reported. As per several reports doing rounds, BCCI secretary Jay Shah is not in the race to become the next BCCI president, but most likely will be contesting again for the same post i.e. the BCCI secretary with someone else taking over the top position. Meanwhile, 1983-World Cup winner Roger Binny is said to be the frontrunner to replace Ganguly as BCCI President in the upcoming elections.

Reportedly, a meeting was held in Mumbai regarding this between the top brass on next BCCI elections. Another meeting will take place in New Delhi next week where state associations will share their views.

Who is Roger Binny?

Team India had given a target of 247 runs to Australia, which they failed to chase down, courtesy of a brilliant bowling spell from Binny (4 wickets for 29 runs in 8 overs). Binny was also coach of India's Under-19 team which included stars like Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh that went on to become the world champion for the first time.
