World Sight Day: Over 25% Indians Aged 50 And Above Have Visual Impairment, 1.99% Of These Have Blindness, Say Experts

A study conducted based on a 2015-2019 survey found that the prevalence of blindness in people aged 50 years and above in India was 1.99 per cent, and that of visual impairment was 26.88 per cent. 

World Sight Day: Blindness is a condition in which presenting visual acuity is less than 3/60 in the better eye (the eye with less disease or better vision), and visual impairment is a condition in which presenting visual acuity is less than 6/12 in the better eye.
