Terminalia tomentosa is a large tree species found in deciduous forests. Around five to 10 per cent of the population of Terminalia tomentosa have been observed to store water in the stem. Have you ever seen a tree that gushes out jets of water from its stem? Not sticky sap, but clean, potable water. Well, the chances of you having seen such a tree in real life are low, unless you have indigenous knowledge of such phenomena. Recently, a video showing a stream of water coming out of a tree in Andhra Pradesh, India, after its bark was cut, went viral on the Internet.
This was done as part of an experiment by the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department in the Papikonda National Park
