New Delhi: A scientific expedition team led by experts from the National Geographic Society has established the world's highest weather station on Mount Everest at an altitude of 8,830 meters above sea level, the Nepalese media reported on Thursday. Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) said the automatic weather conditions station was introduced a couple of meters underneath the summit point (8,848.86 meters) last week as the snow and ice on the summit are not appropriate for fixing hardware.

The weather monitoring system, controlled by solar energy, should gauge different meteorological phenomena like air temperature, wind speed, air pressure, change in the surface level of snow, and incoming and active short and longwave radiation.

The NatGeo group, driven by environment researcher Baker Perry from the Appalachian State University in the US, is comprised of acclaimed climbers and researchers, a significant number of whom scaled the world's most noteworthy top while introducing the weather conditions station.

The group spent a month in the Everest region of Nepal and furthermore did the upkeep of different stations, including a station at South Col, The Himalayan Times revealed.

The DHM and National Geographic marked an update of understanding to work every one of the five Automatic Weather Stations introduced by NatGeo to give close to constant data with respect to mountain conditions.

A Chinese campaign had additionally introduced a programmed meteorological monitoring system on the northern side of Everest at an elevation of 8,800 meters, the report said.

As indicated by Chinese media reports, Beijing has eight stations set up from 5,200 meters to 8,800 meters on Mt Everest, with four stations surpassing 7,000 meters at 7,028 meters, 7,790 meters, 8,300 meters, and 8,800 meters.
