The Moon is at least 40 million years older than previously thought, crystals brought back from the Moon by Apollo 17 astronauts have revealed. Earlier, the Moon was assumed to be 4 billion years old, but now, analysis of those crystals has revealed that the Moon is at least 40 million years older than previously thought. The Moon is at least 4.46 billion years old, the new study, published in the journal Geochemical Perspective Letters, has said.
