Indian Ocean And Bay Of Bengal Can Be Used As Storage Sinks For Carbon Dioxide, IIT Madras-Led Research Finds
The ocean can serve as an effective storage reservoir for greenhouse gases released as part of industrial activities, the study, led by IIT Madras researchers, said.
The Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal can be used as carbon dioxide sinks, which means that large amounts of carbon dioxide can be stored there, according to a new study. This technique, known as carbon sequestration, is used to store carbon in a carbon pool, and helps mitigate climate change by reducing the amount of atmospheric carbon dioxide which, in turn, helps reduce global warming.
