What leads to hallucinations and delusions? There are two key systems in the brain the dysfunction of which results in psychosis. These are a "filter" and a "predictor", according to a Stanford Medicine-led study published April 11 in the journal Molecular Psychiatry. The filter directs attention towards important external events and internal thoughts, while the predictor is made of pathways that predict rewarding events.  But in a person with psychosis, the filter is like a mesh funnel,
