New Delhi: Indian boxers Vikas Krishan , Manoj Kumar and Shiva Thapa face a risk of being disqualified at Rio Olympics, even though Vikas Krishan and Manoj Kumar won their bout and Shiva Thapa prepares for his fight.

The reason behind the suspected disqualification is, that none of the official kitting of the boxers has INDIA written on the back of jersey, which is a statutory requirement in boxing during Olympics.

Indian boxer Shiva thapa has a bout at 11am Brazilian time and he will not be allowed to fight without the name of country behind his jersey.

This was informed to him after Manoj turned up for his bout, that “no Indian boxer will be allowed after this”. Which means the boxer only has 10 hours, to get a new jersey made in order to avoid getting disqualified.

According to sources, Indian contingent here is making last minute effort to get the jersey inked.
