Does Vaikuntha Ekadashi Open Heaven’s Gates?
According to a mythological tale, there once lived a king named Vaikhanas in the town of Gokul. The king ruled over a realm inhabited by learned Brahmins well-versed in the four Vedas. The king himself was known for his care and compassion toward his people.
One night, the king dreamt of his father suffering the torments of hell. In the dream, his father pleaded for liberation from this suffering. Deeply disturbed, the king consulted the Brahmins in the morning and shared his vision. The Brahmins advised him to seek guidance from the sage Parvat residing in an ashram.
Upon meeting the sage, the king narrated his dream. The sage revealed that the king's father was enduring the torments of hell due to his past sins. To free his father, the sage recommended observing the Vaikuntha Ekadashi fast and dedicating its merit to his father.
The king diligently followed the sage’s advice, and as a result of the fast, his father was liberated from hell and ascended to heaven. The king later dreamt of his father joyfully entering heaven, affirming the significance of this sacred day.
