The quakes come a month after a trio of earthquakes hit several islands in the South Pacific and Indonesia, including Lombok, which is still recovering from the effects of an August 5 earthquake that killed around 1234 people.

Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation but there are small pockets of religious minorities, including Christians, across the archipelago.

It is to be noted that Indonesia is one of the most disaster-prone nations on earth.

The search continues is underway for thousands of people who are believed to be trapped under rubble after an earthquake hit the island of Sulawesi on Friday.
