Joe Root played a steady knock of 69 off 72 balls, striking six fours. With this, he registered his 40th ODI half-century, surpassing Eoin Morgan to become England's batter with the most 50+ scores in ODIs. Morgan had crossed the 50-run mark 55 times, while Root has now done it 56 times.
Also, Joe Root has now equaled Shikhar Dhawan and Vivian Richards in terms of the most 50+ scores in ODI cricket. He now has 6610 runs in 173 ODIs for England at an average of 47.55, including 40 half-centuries and 16 centuries.
