Rahul Gandhi while talking to ABP News said that the administration is preventing him from walking to Hathras as only Prime Minister is allowed to walk freely here. “Can't a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking,” he said.

While Priyanka and Rahul were taken by Uttar Pradesh Police, rest of the Congress workers who raised slogans against the UP administration, were also roughed up.

According to Ranvijay Singh, Additional DCP, Gautam Budh Nagar, Rahul Gandhi has been taken into custody and he won't be allowed to go further as the police have a letter from DM Hathras saying that if Gandhi goes there, it may disturb the law and order situation in the district

Uttar Pradesh Police personnel have taken both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi into custody.

A high drama unfolded as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who was on his way to Hathras, to meet the grieving family of the rape victim, was roughed up by Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday.

On Thursday, Rahul was on his way to Hathras, along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior leaders. He was detained by the police. Police Personnel told Gandhi he was being detained as he was marching in an area where section 144 has been imposed.

“Violence is the weapon of the weak, non-violence that of the strong- Mahatma Gandhi”, INC shared the pictures of Gandhi falling to the ground as he was allegedly pushed by the cops.

Gandhi who is a Member of Parliament, sustained injuries as he was shoved up by the cops at Yamuna Expressway.
