Titanic (1997)- The James Cameron movie Titanic was Leonardo DiCaprio’s ticket to international fame at just 22. Leonardo DiCaprio played Jack, an artist, who was fictional character added to the script to represent the poor passengers in the ship Titanic. DiCaprio who captured the young, energetic romantic artist enthralled the audience.
Inception 2010- In the Christopher Nolan film, Leonardo DiCaprio played Dom Cobb, a professional thief who specializes in conning secrets from his victims by infiltrating their dreams. DiCaprio was considered the best to be cast in the film although it was offered to Will Smith and Brad Pitt. While the film was mainly targeted at Sci-Fi fans his performance was able to interest non-sci-fi fan as well.
Blood Diamond (2006)-In the political thriller DiCaprio played a white Rhodesian gunrunner, whose family was killed in the Rhodesian Bush War. He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor. Blood Diamond was a film that really captured his maturity which was previously seen in the movie The Departed.
The Great Gatsby (2013)- In the Baz Luhrmann film which is an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel of the same name he played the millionaire Jay Gatsby. He liked the idea of playing a man who realizes his imaginations, someone he characterizes as a hopeless romantic, a completely obsessed wacko or a dangerous gangster, clinging to wealth. DiCaprio's performance was praised as well, and earned him an AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
DiCaprio is also considered to be the most active celebrity when it comes to climate change. His environmental activism led him to found Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998 aimed at promoting environmental awareness.
