Dharam Singh Deol, popularly known as Dharmendra, is one of the most versatile and well-known Bollywood actors of all time. Known as the ‘He-Man’ of Bollywood, Dharmendra is one of the most successful actors of the Hindi film industry.

View In AppDharmendra, who has an illustrious acting career spanning over six decades, is also the King of throwback pictures, who keeps sharing some iconic moments from the past on his Instagram handle. Not just that, his captions are equally captivating.
Dharmendra made his acting debut with ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ in 1960. He was also the winner of Filmfare magazine’s nationally organized new talent award and was promised a film, but it was never made.
Dharmendra had a successful pairing with Meena Kumari, with whom he shared screen space in 7 films including ‘Chandan Ka Palna’ and ‘Baharon Ki Manzil’, among others. Dharmendra received his first Filmfare Award nomination in the Best Actor category for his role in ‘Phool Aur Pathhar’.
The actor’s performance in ‘Anupama’ was highly acclaimed for which he was honoured with a souvenir at the National Film Awards, that year. For his performance in ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, he received a Filmfare nomination in the Best Actor category for an action hero in 1971.
Having proved his acting prowess by doing a variety of films ranging from romantic sagas to action and suspense thrillers, Dharmendra established himself as a versatile actor.
Dharmendra’s pairing with his wife Hema Malini was loved by one and all and together, they went on to deliver some of the blockbusters of that time. They worked together in ‘Raja Rani’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, ‘Patthar Aur Payal’ and the iconic cult classic ‘Sholay’.
While receiving his Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award from legendary actor Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu, Dharmendra grew emotional on not being able to receive a Filmfare Best Actor award despite delivering several hits.
