The Samajwadi Party has fielded Azam Khan, who is now imprisoned, from his customary Rampur seat. Khan, a Rampur MP, has been imprisoned in Sitapur since February 2020 on charges of land grabbing and other offences. However, Allahabad High Court on Tuesday granted him bail in connection with a land grabbing case. In the 2017 elections, Azam Khan won the Rampur assembly seat with more than 47% of the vote.
