River Indie Launched: An SUV Version Of Electric Scooters

The River Indie has an IP67 rated 4kWh battery pack with a range claim of 120km per charge. Top-speed is 90 km/h while it will do 0-40 km/h in 3.9 seconds. It makes 9bhp and 26Nm while getting three riding modes- Eco, Ride and Rush. A 0-80 percent charging time is claimed to be 5 hours. The scooter has a 5 year/50,000 km warranty. The Indie has a 20inch wide floor bed, 43l under seat storage plus a 12l lockable glove box with USB charger. It is also the first electric Indian scooter to have front footpegs. River also claims that the seat is the widest plus the longest in its class and comes with crash guards as well. (Image: Somnath Chatterjee)
In terms of convenience features, the River Indie comes with a reverse assist feature, a TFT display and two USB ports. The pricing of this scooter is Rs 1.25 lakh and it is an introductory price while deliveries will start from August 2023. The design seems to be on the rugged side and comes with a focus on practicality plus space. In terms of pricing, the scooter is aggressively priced when compared to Ola and Ather. There are plans to sell the Indie scooter to other cities while currently it is sold in Bengaluru with plans to expand to 50 cities by 2024.
