Audi's Digital matrix LED headlights show an illuminated Audi logo along with various animated projections for entry/exit. These headlamps work to adjust the LEDs to face oncoming traffic without blinding them. The rear too gets OLED tail-lamps with a lighting pattern connected to the drive mode. The A8L goes beyond this with a rear seat heated foot massager plus rear seat entertainment screens with a remote. Coupled with the 4-zone climate control and a Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System with 3D sound- the rear seat is indeed a nice place to be! There is a huge amount of space on offer as you can see! Get in and we love how the air vents open up to greet you while there are two touchscreens below along with a digital driver interface. Quality and materials used are of course of a high standard which is expected while we did notice that the glossy black surfaces are fingerprint magnets! There are various interior colours to choose from and a lot of technology including a heads-up display, ambient lighting with colours, front massage seats and more. (Source: Somnath Chhaterjee)
One of the party tricks of the A8L is that it raises the vehicle by 50mm for easy entry/exit along with its predictive suspension which scans the road ahead using a camera and adjusts the suspension. This results in pliant ride quality. The A8L is a huge car but the addition of rear-axle steering cuts the turning circle while the handling is surprisingly dynamic for a class of this car. However, we also noticed that in the standard ride height, the A8L is low and hence, you need to take care when crossing speed-breakers. That said, there is a lift option that one needs to activate within the Drive mode menu to tackle large speed-breakers while small ones are automatically taken care of by the predictive suspension. The new A8L has a 3.0L TFSI petrol 48V mild-hybrid engine with 340 hp and 500 Nm torque. The engine is quiet and surprisingly agile while being enough for a large car. The gearbox and the power delivery has been tuned for a linear comfort oriented driving experience and that is fine. (Source: Somnath Chhaterjee)
The new A8L brings in more technology while also making it one of the most technologically advanced cars due to its predictive suspension, headlamps and the luxury on offer. We like the quality, looks, features, suspension, comfort on the new Audi. However we don't like how expensive the car is, Rs 1.6 cr for the fully loaded trim and low ground clearance.
