The power that social media holds in today’s times is not hidden from anyone. It can make anyone star, can set a trend, and ignite a debate that may find its place on national television and all this can happen within hours.

While everyone is aware of this, certainly Chiku is not.

We are talking about the fruit Chiku which has taken social media by storm unintentionally. And now, a petition has been filed on change.org to make Chiku, the King of Fruit.

The present King of Fruit, Mango is facing a tough challenge from the supporters of Chiku for the last several days over the qualities that both fruits offer.

The viral petition says, “All this while, we have been singing glories of mangoes and apples. While they are great, it’s time for the underdogs to rule. And now, it’s the turn for our sweet, humble Chiku.”

It goes on to add, “After all, Mango is aam, Chiku has all the charm. Apple is red but Chiku is rad. Kiwi is pardesi and Chiku is apna desi! And when it comes to taking care of us, it’s no less than a superhero. It has a soft and sweet side. It’s always dependable. It makes you look and feel good. It’s simply a saviour for the moms-to-be. It’s extremely energetic.”

“We plead with you, fellow fruit lovers, to make Chiku of House Healthy Fruits, The First of His Name, the Dependable, The Soft and Sweet, the Dark Knight, The Rightful King of Fruits, All Hail #KingChiku, for it’s the hero we deserve,” the petition says.

Earlier, a campaign began on social media to make Chiku the King of Fruit after the viral trend received support from celebrities.

Comedian Vir Das took to twitter to show his support in a video and said, “I woke up today and chose to support #KingChiku. Thank you, petitioner, for bringing this to our notice. Folks, I urge you all to show some love to Chiku.”

Backing the ongoing trend, Cricketer Virat Kohli said, “Well, looks like while I was away, my new team was at play and they’ve made Chiku the talk of the town! @gonoise, you have done what you do best. Made a lot of Noise here! Thanks for this grand welcome!”
