Man Rescues Stranded Dog From Under A Bridge Amid Raging Waters In Chandigarh — WATCH

In the video which has garnered over 98,000 views, shows the man risking his own life to rescue the dog.

A heart-warming video has been doing rounds on the internet for all the right reasons. In the video, a man can be seen climbing up a ladder but with him is a dog he just rescued. The dog was stranded amid a flood-like situation under the Khuda Lahore bridge. The internet applauded the man for his timely help which saved the canine’s life. Chandigarh police took to Twitter to share the video that shows the rescue operation.

The video was shared by the Senior Superintendent Of Police, Chandigarh who congratulated the fire and police department for their team effort to save the dog. 

"Kudos to the team of Fire department assisted by Chandigarh police team, a puppy stranded under Khuda Lahore bridge due to heavy water flow was rescued," they wrote. The department also added a few hashtags in their tweet. They are "#EveryoneIsImportantForUs", "#LetsBringTheChange", and "#WeCareForYou".

The 45-second clip shows the man midway climbing back a slanted ladder, holding the pooch in one arm. The dog was taken away after he almost reached the top so that the man could get out easily. Raging waters can be seen underneath the bridge. 

The video which was posted on July 10, has received over 98,000 views. Additionally, the tweet has gathered close to 1,500 likes.  People have posted over 1500 comments, most of them congratulating the samaritan for his brave efforts. 

A user wrote, "Brilliant efforts. Saving a life is really important at this point in time."

Another wrote, “God bless the #Chandigarh Braves. Thank you for the compassion. Jai Hind!”

A third user commented, “Dil jeet leya. Thanks ek example set kar ti.” (Won my heart. You’ve set an example.)

On July 10, Chandigarh recorded its highest 24-hour rainfall after nearly 23 years. Also, for the first time in the history of the Union Territory, the Sukhna Lake overflowed and eventually the floodgates of the waterbody were opened.

Meanwhile, at least 1,058 villages of 14 districts in Punjab are affected by floods, an official statement said. This includes 364 in Rupnagar, 268 in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 250 in Patiala, 71 in Jalandhar, 30 in Moga, 25 in Hoshiarpur, 16 in Ludhiana, three each in Sangrur and Ferozepur, and six in Tarn Taran, PTI reported. 

Cattle deaths have been reported from Fatehgarh Sahib, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Tarn Taran and Jalandhar. Around 6,300 hens have reportedly died in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and eight piglets, seven pigs and a goat in Sirhind City due to floods.
