Mosquito bites can transmit several types of diseases like Dengue and Malaria that sometimes prove fatal. Recently, a German man suffered various health issues including having to go through 30 operations after being bitten by a mosquito.

The 27-yeard-old Sebastian Rotschke was admitted to the ICU and spent four weeks in a coma after he was bitten by an Asian tiger mosquito in the summer of 2021, reported the  Daily Star.

He first experienced mild symptoms of flu but his health deteriorated. He began to suffer from a host of issues like liver, kidney, heart and lung failure at various moments.

He was even forced to undergo skin transplant to his thigh after an abscess had formed on his left thigh. His chances of survival were also bleak as malignant bacteria had eaten away almost halfway of his left thigh.

"I haven't been abroad. The bite must have happened here. Then the pure escalation began. I became bedridden, barely made it to the bathroom, had a fever, and couldn't eat. I thought it was coming to an end. Suddenly I saw that my grey sweatpants were completely soaked. All of a sudden, a huge abscess formed on my left thigh. The doctors very quickly guessed that the Asian tiger mosquito bite was the cause of the whole thing and called in a specialist."  said Sebastian to Daily Star.

Doctors took his tissue sample for tests after which they came to know that a bacteria called Serratia marcescens had eaten away half of his thigh due to the Asian tiger mosquito bite. The doctors immediately called in a specialist and the treatment began

After 30 operations and two of his toes partially amputated, Sebastian remains on sick leave but has said he's "fine so far", reported Daily Star.
