Getting ready for a big event like your wedding is always time taking and requires a lot of effort. And all attempts are made for a smooth functioning of the ceremony. But for the newlyweds Pranav Jha and Victoria Jha luck wasn't on their side. The couple from North Carolina in the United States had to miss their own wedding reception after getting trapped in an elevator for two hours.

The newlywed couple was heading up to their reception party on the 16th floor of the Grand Bohemian hotel when their lift suddenly stopped between the ground floor and the first floor, according to WBTV.com.

The rescue services tried to repair the lift but failed after which firefighters were called. They too were unable to fix the issue immediately and opted a "rope rescue"

"We went through all of the normal troubleshooting that you do on an elevator call and none of that was working, so that's when we realized we were going to elevate it to what it ended up being, what was a rope rescue," firefighter David Budd said, according to WBTV.com.

The firefighters first opened the top of the elevator and then pulled all six people stuck up to the fourth floor of the building one by one.

"We go up maybe five feet and then just stopped. The door was slightly ajar, so I was like, ‘Hmm, that’s not normal'", Pranav Jha told WBTV.

"WEDDING NIGHT RESCUE: First, congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jha on your wedding day. Although Charlotte Fire wasn't formally invited, we weren't exactly wedding crashers either. Early this morning, our crews responded to an elevator entrapment," wrote the Charlotte Fire Department on Facebook while sharing the incident.
