New Delhi: Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc is all set to open a 24x7 Tesla diner in Hollywood. The electric vehicle company submitted related documents to the City of Los Angeles on May 19, according to a Bloomberg report. The restaurant will come up on 7001 W. Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.
This comes four years after the Tesla CEO tweeted about a “roller skates & rock restaurant” that would also serve as a charging station for electric vehicles. In his January 2018 tweet, Musk wrote: “Gonna put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA”.
Quoting an Electrek report, the Bloomberg article said the restaurant will come up on a 9,300-square-foot space that will include plans for a drive-in movie theatre and a 28-stall supercharging station. Architectural plans shared by Tesla show a two-storey diner with a seating capacity of 200, both indoors and outside. Food will be reportedly served in cars, and the outdoor seats will have a direct view to two LED movie screens, the report said.
Tesla had around a year ago filed applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office to trademark a ‘T’ logo for a range of restaurant concepts, including self-service ones to takeouts. According to the report, no further details on the opening date or menus are available as of now.
For the Hollywood Supercharger restaurant to become a reality, approval from the city has to come.
Musk had earlier tweeted that the concept would be old-school drive-in, with roller skates. In February, he posted that the diner/drive-in would be futuristic, and that payment could be made in Dogecoin.
